Ren Yang is a Taiwanese documentary filmmaker and journalist whose work explores memory, identity, and cross-cultural narratives. 

Growing up between Taipei, Bali, and a Taiwanese Indigenous community, Ren developed a deep sensitivity to cultural diversity and how place, culture, and tradition shape identity. 

With a background in journalism and new media art, Ren blends photography, writing, film, and media art to craft emotionally resonant stories that bridge cultural divides. 

He has worked with leading Chinese-language outlets such as The Reporter and Initium Media, producing in-depth multimedia features that merge journalistic rigor with creative expression. 

His documentaries and artworks have been featured at film festivals and exhibitions across East Asia, earning praise for their cultural insight and narrative depth. 

Having lived and worked in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Finland, Ren is committed to telling stories that cross borders and foster deeper human connection through nuanced, inclusive perspectives.

Stuttgart International Animation Festival

In 2021, he participated in an exchange program at the University of Lapland in Finland. He graduated from the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong in 2022. Currently, he is a second-year master’s student in the Graduate Institute of Journalism at National Taiwan University.
